Slanjayvah Danza is a Contemporary Dance Theatre Company, based in Leeds.

Led by Artistic Director, Jenni Wren, the company is known for delving into and portraying the human psyche through dance whilst mixing various art forms.

With a growing reputation for closing the gap between performers and the audience, the company continues to inject humour and “real-life” into their work. The works draw on humour and light heartedness, yet manage to retain raw emotions within their topics. Reality is explored and this challenges the thoughts of each individual audience member.

The company tours works both within the UK and Europe to small scale venues, maintaining its interest in more intimate performance spaces.

Choreographies are layered or influenced by other artistic practices that complement dance and convey narratives that the audiences can relate to.

Slanjayvah Danza enjoy working with a variety of artists and art forms to create hybrid work that complements the contemporary dance fundamentals of the company and choreographies. This results in an eclectic range of innovative and accessible, communicative work. The diversity of artists working in each project has extended to include: dancers, non-dancers, musicians, film makers, various designers, actors, traditional Spanish dancers, use of foreign language, stage fighting, painters, photographers, storytellers and more.

Slanjayvah Danza is committed to providing educational workshops alongside the performance work, led exclusively and only by company performers. Alongside each work, the company tailor make educational packages for a variety of ages and abilities, acknowledging the importance of dance in education and community involvement.
