Billed as a comi-dance venture, The Gin Chronicles documents the misadventures of Clay & Emelda whose pursuits of romance are always inebriated and never aligned.
Produced in the style of a 1920’s silent movie The Gin Chronicles #1 was made as a celebration of artistic partnerships; with performance and choreography by Wren and Sanger, directed by Fearnley, the artists flex their creative muscles, contributing to the overall aesthetic and design of the work.
With the collaborators since heading in different artistic directions, we are still waiting for #2.
The Gin Chronicles #1 was produced exclusively by Jen Wren and Slanjayvah Danza in collaboration with Little Northern Light.
““Jenni Wren topped the bill – Beautiful and compelling”
The Londonist.
Touring and Accolades
The Gin Chronicles premiered at Dance Film Scotland in 2008 and was screened at several festivals in the UK. Self-produced and experimental, the production was an artistic outing for the collaborators, who developed the work in their spare time using only the resources at hand. Subsequently, it was shared extensively through the networks of those involved and by Slanjayvah Danza partners, reaching a modest but significant audience.
