6 Feet, 3 Shoes is Slanjayvah Danza’s acclaimed dance-theatre production celebrating friendship, cultural exchange and the joy of dancing together. Created by choreographer Jen Wren, the work brings Scottish traditional dance, flamenco and contemporary movement into a vibrant fusion driven by live fiddle, guitar, song and percussion.
Told through the true story of three women — two from Spain, one from Scotland — whose lives intertwine across borders, the piece blends percussive footwork, storytelling, music and humour with moments of deep emotional resonance. From fiery flamenco sections to the rhythmic precision of Scottish step dance, the show reveals how people find family, belonging and understanding across cultures, even without sharing a language.
At heart, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes is a celebration: of friendship, of music, of traditions carried across generations. Audiences are invited not only to watch but to join in — clapping, stamping rhythms, and often finishing with a ceilidh-style social dance. This sense of connection has made the piece a favourite among rural, family and festival audiences alike.
Slanjayvah Danza are forever grateful to the many organisations that have supported the journey of 6 Feet, including Arts Council England, and Creative Scotland, and the many, many venues, audiences, producers, project friends and behind-the-scenes supporters who are too many name but without whom this project would not have happened.
“A true story of friendship … showcasing the power of sharing cultures. A beautiful blend of Scotland and Spain, this show is not to be missed.”
