On a warm evening in July 2014 Slanjayvah Danza’s founding members came together for a night of Flamenco Magic, transforming The Arch Café in Leeds into a little corner of Andalucía.
It wasn’t just a performance—it was a journey. Audiences were swept into a world of rhythm, passion, and story. Warm aromas of Mediterranean dishes hung in the air, and the clink of glasses filled with wines and locally brewed beers set the tone for an evening of promise far beyond a typical night.
As Slanjayvah Danza and Flamenco Diez took to the floor , the musicians’ rich, traditional Spanish sound carried through the space, accompanying the dancers and delivering a captivating blend of precision, fire, and emotional depth. Each moment pulsed with authenticity, artistry, and a deep respect for the cultural roots of flamenco.
“Nights like this remind us why live performance, good food, and shared culture remain some of life’s greatest pleasures.”
Age UK.
Performances and Accolades
Cafe Noche Flamenco was a one-night-only event funded by Leeds Inspired and supported by Age UK Leeds and The Arch Cafe. It is one of the many cultural events produced by Jen Wren & Slanjayvah where local organisations become host to a celebration of performing arts and culture. This production was multi-disciplinary and incorporated the culinary delights of the café’s special Mediterranean menu and highlighted local produce whilst raising awareness for the charity Age UK and celebrating the multiculturalism of Leeds.
